HES Spreads the Spirit of Thanksgiving
I.T. Holleman Elementary Student Council shared the spirit of helping others in need before the Thanksgiving holiday break. The Student Council members led a food drive in the month of November to collect canned goods to donate to Waller Assistance and Restoration Ministries WARM. Students and staff alike joined forces to ensure others in the community had a plentiful Thanksgiving. The school collected 25 boxes filled with canned goods. The Student Council Officers are pictured with some of the boxed canned goods. Waller ISD Public Information
The students of I.T. Holleman Elementary gathered in the school cafeteria with veteran guest attendees to hear the beautiful music the 5th grade students had prepared with music teacher, Christopher Woody. The 5th grade students assembled on the cafeteria stage and performed 5 songs. The first song sang by the students was the popular patriotic favorite, The Star Spangled Banner
, followed by Heart of America
. Students then sang God Bless The USA
and waved the American flag. The 5th grade music students excitedly performed the fun ditty entitled, Fifty Nifty United States
, which the students memorized all fifty states alphabetically in order to sing. The final song sang by the students was You Are Our Heroes
, and it was dedicated to all of those who have served our country. After the students sang their final song, they joined the rest of the school on the cafeteria floor and viewed a slideshow as the Armed Forces Medley
played in the background. The slideshow recognized each branch of the military and highlighted the submitted photos of soldiers who were family members or friends of I.T. Holleman staff and students.
