Holleman's Happenings

Teacher of the Year:  Jamie Macha

Jami began her future in Waller in 3rd grade when she entered Holleman Elementary.  She graduated from WHS, and attended Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Science in Academic Studies.  She was excited to return to Holleman in 2001 to begin teaching 1st Grade.  She taught first grade for 10 years, and is currently teaching 2nd grade at Holleman.  She is also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Gamma Omega Chapter and ATPE.

Jami’s students describe her as nice, exciting, fun, and loving, and they look forward to come to school each day.

She loves spending her free time enjoying movies, and spending time with family and friends.  She is married to her husband Ross, and has a son named Jack.

Rookie of the Year:  Kathy Sims

Kathy Sims was born and raised in Waller.  She graduated from Waller High School and then attended Ashford University.  Two years ago, she obtained her Teaching Certification from Region IV, and started teaching kindergarten at Holleman.  She has been married to her wonderful husband Don for 31 years, and 3 fantastic daughters, and son-in-laws (Kristine & Will, Melanie & Kyle, and Leslie & Joe) and five wonderful grandkids.

She believes that Children are a special gift and should be treated with love, kindness, and dignity, with each day being devoted to their future.

A quote a friend shared with her that she lives by....”To love what you do and feel that it matters: how could anything be more fun?”  Kathy truly loves working each day, and has fun with her students.

Bulldog Races
Congratulations to all of our super runners who participated in the Bulldog Races at the Waller ISD Stadium on Saturday, February 9th.

Fire Prevention

Friday, October 12th was Fire Prevention Day at Holleman Elementary School.  A presentation on fire safety was given by Waller County Fire Department to our students.  They really enjoyed the presentation, and were given coloring books and stickers to remind them what to do in case of an emergency.

Let's Have Some Pie!

Mrs. Fletcher and Mrs. Crosby received a pie in the face, on Friday, October 26th.  Parents purchased the opportunity for their child to be able to smash a pie in their face in front of the school body at the Holleman Fall Festival Auction.  Cole Holladay smashed a lemon meringue pie in Mrs. Fletcher’s face, and Brandt Storey smashed a chocolate flavored pie in Mrs. Crosby’s face.

Student Council

Here at Holleman we have a strong Student Council of 25 students. We all work together to have a strong team. Holleman’s Student Council is involved in daily and special activities to make Holleman a great place to learn!

Holleman Fall Festival

Holleman PTO and Staff would liketo say, “Thank You,” for making the Fall Festival a success.  The weather was beautiful, games were great, and the food was perfect.  Each year, we strive to meet the needs and excitement of our students.  Please email Mrs. Fletcher if you have any suggestions, or would like to share a memorable moment you had with your child at the Fall Festival.

Kiss the Donkey

Holleman students brought in box tops for the month of September.  They voted on which teacher they would like to see Kiss a Donkey on Friday, September 28, 2012.  The four teachers with the highest number of votes, were selected to Kiss the Donkey.  The students met their goal of 5,000 box tops, so Officer Tommy Smith, came over and had to Kiss a Donkey too.

Family Reading Night

Reading Night was held on Thursday, September 20, 2012.  Students and Parents were able to visit their teachers, and then travel to the library for our book fair.  The book fair raised money, that will be spent purchasing new items for the library.

Grandparents Day

Holleman Elementary was honored to have several grandparents join their grandchildren for lunch on Friday, September 7, 2012.  The cafeteria was filled with laughter, excitement, and stories.  This is always a day the students love immensly.  We would like to say, "Thank You," to the grandparents for making this a special day for their grandchildren and so many others.
